Types of Computer Monitors Print E-mail
Monday, 22 January 2007
When choosing computers for home or business use, deciding on what types of monitors you need should be an important consideration.  Computer monitors come in many different styles, sizes, and function capabilities, and since your monitor will be the way that you interface with your computer, you want to make sure that it meets all of your needs.

For basic home computer use such as sending and receiving email, playing video games, or running a budget program, there is no need to have a very expensive or elaborate monitor.  Though it is true that there is no monitor that is “overqualified” for any type of computer usage, there really is no need to spend a great deal on computer monitors that are capable of doing more than what you need.  A standard CRT (cathode ray tube) computer monitor with an acceptable resolution can work quite well for normal home computer use.  These monitors basically work like standard CRT televisions.

Many people these days, however, are choosing the more advanced LCD (liquid crystal display) computer monitors for home and business use, and this can certainly be a good choice.  LCD monitors are lighter and flatter than CRT monitors, and can be more energy efficient and produce sharper pictures.  Though prices for LCD monitors are dropping since they initially came on to the market, they are still more expensive than CRT monitors.

Whether you choose to use CRT or LCD computer monitors, you will want to choose the sizes that work best for you.  Although larger monitor screens can be beneficial, you want to make sure that the monitor will fit in the area where you will be using it, and will fit your budget as well.
